We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Medical Records Specialist to support our busy Internal Medicine practice. This role is responsible for maintaining the accuracy, integrity, security, and accessibility of patient medical records while supporting quality care, compliance, and provider operations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage electronic medical records (EHR).
- Scan, upload, index, and reconcile patient documentation.
- Process medical record requests and releases in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Conduct chart audits and identify missing documentation.
- Retrieve records from hospitals, specialists, laboratories, and imaging centers.
- Ensure accurate filing, record retention, and document management.
- Support quality reporting, population health initiatives, and risk adjustment efforts.
- Assist with compliance audits and provider credentialing requests.
Required Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of experience working in a medical office setting
β
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW)
β
Strong knowledge of:
- Medical terminology
- HIPAA and patient privacy regulations
- Medical records management
- Release of Information (ROI) procedures
- Internal medicine workflows

Proficiency with:
- eClinicalWorks (eCW)
- Microsoft Office
- Scanning and document management systems
